Hokuto No Ken - LEGEND OF HEROES
Production: North Star Pictures & Digital Frontier Inc.
Director: Tetsuo Hara
Year: 2006
Format: special
Just when we thought of seeing them all, here is peeping out a new, strange product dedicated to Kenshiro. On July 16, 2006 broadcast on Fuji TV is in fact a very short (6 minutes) television special that takes the legendary final battle between Kenshiro and Raoul, that concludes the first series. Nothing new under the sun, were it not that the same leadership and Tetsuo Hara (the designer of the original manga), and especially the work that uses the most modern techniques of motion capture to animate characters in total and made glaringly expensive CG. And the fight between Ken and Raoul is in fact, scenic, pure film show: total use of slow motion, animation, superb physical carved into the rock and totally plausible ... Too bad for the rest: for facial animation (too blatantly unrealistic and unreliable), for the lack of physicality of the shots (see the final punch with which Ken defeated Raoul) and especially for the complete inhibition of blood, replaced by white sketches frankly ridiculous . The final hasty and gaunt, and especially the characterization of the characters reduced to zero finally certify the ugliness of the final product, which is reason to exist only for technical achievement and the closing song, which is the historic "Ai wo Torimodoze!" redone in metal key (which will be re-used the same anno nel lungometraggio La Leggenda di Hokuto ). Per i fan sfegatati un must, gli altri evitino.
